Genetic improvement and development of maternal qualities in the Limousin breed.

A Beacon of Innovation in Limousin Breeding

Nestled in leafy Uzerche, the Station de Moussours (05 55 73 15 10 – station.moussours@ualc.fr) is a pillar of innovation and excellence in bovine genetics. Specializing in the evaluation of Limousin bulls, this station is a perfect illustration of the Limousin breed’s commitment to genetic improvement and the development of maternal qualities. Last week, despite unpredictable weather, the Moussours Station was honored to welcome breeders and technicians from the Swedish Limousin Association. They were able to discover advances in Limousin genetics and observe the bulls distributed by Créalim in their natural environment, underlining the importance of organic farming and sustainable practices in modern breeding.

Visitors were particularly impressed by the hornless bulls, a striking innovation that reflects the dynamism of genetic research at Station de Moussours. Breeders like EARL TOURLAN were honored, highlighting their efforts to introduce the hornless gene and the creation of bulls like TOUNGA PP, a major step forward for Limousin breeding.

The visit to the Station de Moussours demonstrated that the quest for “the best of the breed” is a living, dynamic reality. The commitment of the partner farms and the passion of the station teams for excellence in Limousin breeding continue to drive the cattle industry forward, not only in France but on an international scale.
