Genetic improvement and development of maternal qualities in the Limousin breed.

A Beacon of Innovation in Limousin Breeding

Last week marked an important moment of intercultural sharing and exchange for our association, with the enthusiastic arrival of a group of 32 breeders and technicians from the Limousin association in Norway. This professional, convivial visit was an opportunity for our Norwegian guests to plunge into the heart of French agricultural tradition and discover the breeding and viticulture practices for which our regions are renowned.

The trip, skilfully blended with educational and recreational activities, enabled our visitors to visit two exceptional vineyards and three Limousin breed farms, renowned for their 100% grass-fed system and the undeniable quality of the animals bred from Créalim bloodlines. The passion and expertise of our local farmers were at the heart of these days of exchange, highlighting the importance of organic farming and the preservation of our endemic breeds. The week’s immersion culminated in a visit to the Station de Contrôle Individuel and Moussours, offering participants a privileged glimpse of the animals undergoing evaluation – future artificial insemination bulls, heifers destined for breeding and primiparous cows accompanied by their calves.

Special thanks go to Château La Brie for its exemplary organic farming approach, to Domaine des Chaulnes, which combines Limousin and duck breeding, to GAEC Domaine Laurens, which combines the art of vine-growing and distillation with cattle breeding, and to GAEC de Cancerles for their hospitality and sharing of know-how. This cross-border meeting reinforces our commitment to respectful agriculture and points the way to a future where traditional knowledge and innovation coexist for the sustainable development of our countryside.
